Avira Security Suite was developed to keep your computer protected and comes with an extra Firewall, Antispam and backup function. In a modification installation or user-defined installation, there are installation modules that can be added, selected or removed.

AntiVir Guard runs in the background and is capable of monitoring and repairing files during operations. When the user carries out file operation, the internet security suite scans the file automatically. Another important feature in this internet security suite is the MailGuard which is the interface between your email service and computer from which your email program downloads the email. The coming emails are routed in this proxy and scanned for viruses or any unwanted programs that could be forwarded to your email program.

When surfing the web, you are using web browser to request data from web server. The data transferred from the server will be moved directly into the cache for display in web browser, which means that an on-access scan performed by AntiVir Guard is not possible. As a result, more viruses and unwanted programs are able to access your computer system. The Firewall feature in this antivirus program control communication that comes in and out of your computer. It will allow or deny communications according to security policies.

Rootkit detection checks to know if the software is already installed on your system that can no longer be detected by other malware protection tools after they penetrate your computer system. The Shell extension feature in this security suite generates entry Scan specified files. Through this entry, you will be able to scan directly files or directories. The backup component in this software allows you to make mirror backups of files either automatically or manually.

All components in the Avira Internet Security were made to be more resilient so they can resist against targeted attacks of malware that are becoming more aggressive. It also ensures decreased usage on resources and much faster initialization time.

Overall, Avira Internet Security is a good performing suite, but it misses some of the important features.
